Dominion Over Disease & Demons - Part 2

How to Yield to the Spirit and Live in God's Will | Dr. Jeff Miller

Wednesday Feb 26, 2025

Jesus gave us dominion over ALL the works of the devil. Are you afraid of or just spooked by anything? Evil spirits and witches? Accidents and disasters? Diseases and germs? Don’t be! All of these, and anything else that’s a curse, are under the Blood. Jesus’ Blood provides a barrier that cursed things cannot cross, IF we use our authority and speak about the Blood. The surpassing greatness of His power is comprised of the Blood of Jesus, the Word and the Spirit. When Christians truly understand their complete victory through Jesus, they will not fear anything.

One of the most important parts of God’s will for everyone in Christ’s body is that we all be filled with the Spirit. Being filled with the Spirit doesn’t just happen once when we’re born again but also should occur a second time, when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit. Jesus explained this second filling to His disciples when He instructed them to wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit, whom the Father promised, filled them with power (Luke 24:49). This second filling of the Holy Spirit gives us boldness to witness to people about Jesus.

Murmuring and complaining is a deadly sin: the Israelites experienced tragedy every time they complained against God. Although we are under grace in the New Covenant, complaining is still just as evil to God. He knows it hinders the blessings He has for us. Complaining also pollutes the hearer; there’s a force behind negative words. Complaining is contagious, spreading through the body. Instead we must be penitent if we complain, acknowledging it is sin and turning from it. We must also pray for anyone we’re tempted to complain about. Finally, we must praise God with gratitude and praise others for the ways they bless people.

The apostle Paul describes a local body whose members are knit together in love. The members look out for each other’s welfare. They’re united in thought and purpose, each following the pastor’s vision. A church is Christ’s local body, a house of God where the members individually and corporately represent Jesus Christ. It is a family, and every member has a vital role to play. When one member suffers, or doesn’t bring their supply—prayer, love, finances, service—the whole body suffers. When members are knit together in love, each joint nourishes one another. True fellowship helps each joint flourish.

Receiving from God | Ike Akabogu

God has prepared all good things for us ahead of time. And they are freely given; we can’t earn them. We cannot receive from God apart from His Spirit. Through the Word spoken, taught, heard and believed, the Holy Spirit gives us discernment. Our ability to receive depends on our level of discerning and seeing the things He has promised. The Word is the warehouse of all the things God has provided for your life. Everything He does is housed in His Word. This is why it is key to sit under anointed teaching, to read the Word, and to develop the spirit man by praying in tongues.

The Lord’s Supper is a time to reflect on Jesus’ death and resurrection, discerning that His body was broken for me and risen in glorified form. Discerning His body also means understanding my role in the local body. Am I walking in love or do I have aught against anyone? Am I serving faithfully? Am I a supply in prayer and finances? Finally, it means discerning the condition of my physical body. Is anything broken? Do I glorify God with it? If I fall short in any of these, I repent and then I know it is behind me.

Life and death is in the power of the tongue. That means we can choose how our lives go. Our health, finances, relationships, everything is shaped by the words we speak. Our words can judge (or save) us or they can acquit (or condemn) us. If you’re experiencing things you don’t want in your life, check your words! Are you rehearsing past failures, difficult situations, or financial woes? If so, stop! Old things have passed away. Instead speak God’s Word over every area of your life. Let’s control the rudder—our tongue—that steers the ship of our lives (James 3)!

Christians can experience suffering if they lack knowledge of God’s will, aren’t being led by Him, or disobey the Word. These are preventable reasons. Christians can also suffer for doing the right thing and obeying Him. It may be persecution or a period of hardship or trials while you’re doing His will. This suffering strengthens our character and deepens our trust in God. While we don’t have to suffer those things that Jesus suffered for us, like sickness and disease, we can suffer for a time while doing His will. But the end result of this is growth and fruit.
