Intercessory Prayer - Dealing with Dark Forces

Evil spirits, Satan’s minions, will try to influence people as long as the earth remains. However, Jesus gave believers the authority to hinder evil forces from impacting us. He also gave us the assignment to intercede for others with the Holy Spirit’s help. We’re called to intercede for governments, the lost, believers, and churches. We must press in and persistently pray in tongues if we want people to come into God’s Kingdom and delivered from Satan’s bondage!

The Mercy of God

God is a God of mercy and justice. We all need His mercies. And He abundantly pardons. When we go astray, we simply repent (turn around), and He forgives us. This is like expunging a guilty record in court. We’re declared free when we repent and receive His mercies. In the Old Testament the mercy seat was the cover for the Ark of the Covenant and a reminder that God meets us in His mercy. Now Jesus is forever on the mercy seat!

Intercessory Prayer

All Christians have an assignment to pray. We can accomplish much by praying in the Spirit, in other tongues, because we’re not limited to what our minds comprehend. The Holy Spirit takes hold together with us, helping us intercede for people. Intercession brings people out of crisis situations and makes great power available to them. We can freely give ourselves to the Holy Spirit as vessels for intercession. Let’s allow His compassion and power flow to a needy world!

Why Many Christians Miss God

God has a plan for each of us! Why do many Christians miss His plan? One reason is if we live by our emotions or our mind. Also, weights or sins hold us back—they dull our spirits and we miss the Holy Spirit’s promptings. Not being consecrated to His will and not waiting on God in prayer will also cause us to miss God. But by correcting these things, we won’t miss God’s plans for our lives!

Dressed for Successful Prayer

The armor of God teaches us to be prepared for prayer. Wrestling denotes great effort; we don’t fight against the devil -- he’s already defeated! The only wrestling is for faith and holding fast to the Word. The helmet of salvation means knowing our rights and privilges in Christ. The breastplate is our righteousness in Him. Shod feet mean light for our path. The shield means facing the enemy head on. The sword of the Spirit is the Word, and Jesus demonstrated how to answer the enemy with the Word.

How to be Led by the Spirit of God - Part 2

Faith is vital to the victorious life. Faith works when we’re led by the Holy Spirit. We need His guidance on decisions and next steps. The New Testament believer can be led by the Holy Spirit in them. God only leads us into blessings, so we can trust the Holy Spirit’s leading even if our minds and emotions don’t always line up. We can always trust the Holy Spirit in our inner man because He always knows what to do!

How to be Led by the Spirit of God

Christians are led by God first through the Word; second by the Holy Spirit within us who bears witness in our inner man; third by the agreement and discernment of our spouse or our pastors. We must spend quality time with God and praying in tongues. That helps us be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and to the inward witness when we must make decisions. And if we miss it, His Spirit can get us back on track!
