Keys to Manifesting Your Redemption

On Father’s Day, Pastor Jeff reminds us that honoring our parents is the first commandment with blessing. Jesus also talked about honoring our parents. Unfortunately, fathers are frequently dishonored. But Christians are to esteem fathers. Fathers have a vital role that goes beyond materially providing for the family. A father is like a pastor within his home: he is to prefer his wife and children, cherishing and nurturing them and giving his life for them.

Proverbs 10:22 says that the blessing of the Lord makes rich. That’s rich materially! God wants to bless His children and to make us a blessing to others, just like He did with Abraham. The patriarch was not only wealthy, but through him those in his lineage, Jew and Gentile, have been blessed. When we’re full of God’s word, have a renewed mind, and are faithful to His plan for our lives, we protect and receive His full blessing.

We aren’t saved by works, but God still commanded the tithe. Through the tithe, we honor Him with our substance, receive His blessings, and spread the Gospel. The tithe belongs to God; it’s holy and already set apart for Him. We — both individuals and congregations — are to return the first tenth of our increase to Him. If we rob the Lord of what belongs to Him, we’re abusing our substance. But when we tithe, we honor Him, and He can pour out His blessings. He will supply all our needs.

God’s love is the foundation for everything. It’s because of His love that He acted upon that you can have righteousness, joy, peace, and healing. Jesus was thinking of you when He hung on the cross! When you know His love for you personally, all else falls into place. You can love yourself and others and can rest because you don’t have to "earn” a place in His Kingdom. Jesus’ blood covered everything. Be like the Prodigal Son, who readily received his Father’s love and forgiveness!

A main reason that we may not receive answers to our prayers is unforgiveness. Maybe we haven’t forgiven others, or God, or even ourselves. Whoever it is, God commands us to forgive, even if we were hurt and feel justified in our bitterness. God asks us to forgive because He forgave us. And He knows that unforgiveness hinders us from receiving answers to prayers. Let’s choose to forgive, whoever and whatever it is, and walk in freedom and in the path of His full blessings!

There is much deception in the contemporary church world, even in Bible-believing churches. Many have strayed from the heritage of pure doctrine and fallen into deception. Some false doctrines are: it’s not God’s will to heal everyone, God doesn’t want you to prosper; miracles and gifts ended in the apostolic era. We must love the truth, regardless of whether popular ideas go against that. Be willing to be criticized for taking a stand for the truth.

Just as Paul warned Timothy against false doctrines and urged him to stay true to the faith he’d been taught, so we must be watchful to remain in the pure doctrine. Many Christians — teachers and laymen alike — have become deceived by hearing unsound doctrine that distorts God’s Word. We must love the truth and hate lies. Holding fast to the sincere milk of the Word will guard our lives and help us be all that God intends.
